Here in Pa our favorite pastimes include bitching about the weather, our roads and gas prices. Welp I just got back from picking up lunch and my local price just went up another 10 cents. Joy!
Damn near back to 3 bucks a gallon for regular. Least our roads benefit from the extra tax put on our gas../s
Sorry for the bitching, it not that expensive, especially compared to California or years past, but still annoyed me today. Hope y’all enjoy the meme

We’re paying around $5.40 Canadian per gallon here at the moment for regular , which is just over $4USD /gal.
94 octane will cost ya around $6.80 CAD per gallon.
FML, but I'm still glad I have all v8's.

Absolutely, that overtime for staties doesn’t pay itself.

I just ran the PA Turnpike both ways this weekend.
Screw PA....

Oof that’s real rough. That’s why I didn’t really want to complain since it’s not that bad at all, but just an annoying way to start the week out.

Yeah fuck that. Ain’t cheap.

I went on a mini road-trip this weekend to the central coast, and was happy diesel was only $3.80 up there. First time it’s been cheaper up there compared to LA. A few weeks ago it was under $3.50 / gal. Summer prices are coming.

You’re number 1!
(In the US at least, don’t go complaining about your tax in Europe)
As to getting your money’s worth out of that tax, I guess you need to compare against other populous cold states and see how your road spending compares. The tax itself is meaningless if other states are making up for it with federal grants or out of general revenues. And of course deferred maintenance can mess things up on either end, if PA underfunded in the past, they may have to spend more now to achieve parity, and if other states are underfunding now, PA could look bad by comparison, even if they will be better off in a decade or two.
Regardless, MA roads are crap, and they really need to bump that tax (and index it to inflation or the price of gas ) to pay for improvements .

I hear ya, don’t feel too badly though, I bet some of our European oppos see prices that make Canadian gas seem like a bargain.

Premium prices are effing stupid. The Wawa by me is $2.75 (yesterday) for regular and $3.55 for 93! The local warehouse club is cheaper @2.71 for regular but an incredible 3.01 for 93. Crazy.
![]() 04/01/2019 at 15:02 |

Nice! That’s the only downside to summer is the rising gas prices. Diesel in our area has been hovering around $3.40
![]() 04/01/2019 at 15:05 |
|
$3.55?! That’s insane!
Ours is right around $2.79 for regular and $3.25-9 for 93. My GTI says it can run on regular, but it doesn’t feel right putting that in it so I go for 93.

Yep, ain’t that the truth

Our diesel prices seem to be closer to the rest of the country whereas our gas is always crazy. The price moves a lot slower than gas too. When gas spikes, diesel is cheaper, but it takes a little longer to go back down so when gas goes down, diesel is more expensive. Back in the Midwest, I always remember diesel being way more expensive. I only need to fill up the tdi about once a month so I really can’t complain much either way haha.

Live in Ft. Wayne, In. Prices have risen .68 cents in last 10 days. Currently $2.79 for regular.

Wow very cool map. Honestly it doesn’t seem to matter where you go, roads aren’t going to be great in the US. However, the constant state of disarray ours are in after each winter is very frustrating .
![]() 04/01/2019 at 15:12 |

That’s where ours is at currently. +.68 is crazy.

Where in PA are you? I'm in Allentown and it seems like every few weeks I'm hearing about another Oppo who lives in the keystone state.

I just paid $4.10/gallon out in CA for my weaksauce 91 octane today.
That’s the price I (willingly) pay for a rust-free Toyota MR2.

Opposite side, Pittsburgh. I generally like living here but you know we gotta bitch about these types of things haha.

One of the Wawa stations near me started carrying ethanol free mid-grade, but it costs about 10 cents more than premium. I tried it out recently and got maybe a 5mpg increase on one tank. Further testing might be required but it might actually be worth it if the mileage gains are legitimate.

Ouch. Only 91 makes it even more insulting.

Im in PA as well, up by Philly but I come to the lehigh cars and coffee a lot!

Nice. I only live a few miles from where they do the LV cars and coffee but I’ve never been.
My sister lives in south Philly so I'm down that way occasionally. We used to live in Ardmore/Havertown years ago.

That map is actually wrong.
Ohio is climbing to more than $0.48/gal taking us from #29 to #2 or #3. Depends on your calculation method.
And our roads DON’T fucking get the benefit. Because they turned the gas tank into their personal piggybank and said only a very small portion of it is actually guaranteed for roads.

$3 a gallon? Be dancing in the streets here in San Diego at those prices. We have been above (sometimes well above) that for a long time.
Trucks and SUVs are still the best sellers here even at near $4 bucks a gallon at some stations.
People are too use to prices fluctuating up and down, no one really cares because they know next quarter it will go down a dollar.

I went to high school in Lower Merion so I’m familiar with that area. Definitely go to the lehigh one this year, theres tons of different stuff and its huge

This is what happens when you elect an idiot Democrat like Tom Wolf twice (!).
Let’s implement regressive taxes that disproportionately target lower income people! Increasing gas taxes didn’t do squat to fix the rubbish ass roads in the state, all it did was leave more people with less $$$ after every paycheck. Not only from higher costs for fueling their own cars, but also higher costs for other goods that pass the tax on to the consumer.

According to our FuelCheck app, these are the price ranges across the three fuel outlets in our little (3,200 person s) Australian town:
E10 94 - $1.299 to $1.449 per litre;
Unleaded 91 - $1. 369 to $1.479 per litre
Premium 95 - $1.46 9 to $1.629 per litre
Premium 98 - $1.699 per litre
Diesel - $1.469 to $1.55 9 per litre
1 Oz dollar buys 0.71 US dollars at the moment so for the cheapest unleaded 91 that’s US$0.97 per litre and there’s 3.785 litres in a US gallon...so that’s US$3.68 per gallon! Not as bad as I thought !!

How could the roads be bad? I thought your higher gas tax was supposed to pay to fix them all?

Roads are pretty good where I live, no real complaints.
![]() 04/01/2019 at 20:24 |

They’re not horrible, but the constant patching/chipping is very annoying. I live dang near in the city and those streets deteriorate much worse than the state owned ones.
![]() 04/01/2019 at 20:38 |
|
Yeah, I will say that’s the case - city owned roads, especially in the more financially distressed cities - are mediocre, but the county and state roads are all in pretty good shape. I honestly don’t have any complaints, personally.
Other states I’ve lived and/or driven in, that’s a different matter - NY, PA, and NJ are all horrible, and MA isn’t much better. Vermont is surprisingly decent though, considering the climate.

I’m very curious to see how Colorado roads are going to be when I’m there in two months.

I paid something like $1.20/L on Saturday.
I long for the day I buy an electric car (or plug in hybrid).

It’s about $5.50 per US gallon in Germany. Which is, meh. I’m quite used to it.
Regular 95 though, due to the different octane measurement comparable to 91 in North America. We don’t have the truly low rated stuff available.
